Webinar: Suitability-for-Service for OSHA Compliance When Equipment Design Documentation is Missing

Suitability-for-Service for OSHA Compliance When Equipment Design Documentation is Missing
Thursday, June 22, 2023 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM EDT
Presenter: Brian R. Macejko, P.E.; Curtis Koether, P.E.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires owner-operators to maintain essential documentation authenticating adequate design and maintenance of pressure vessels and storage tanks. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to find equipment operating in industry with minimal or no documentation. This has become even more common in recent years with the re-purposing of assets for use in new facilities. In this webinar, it will be demonstrated how Suitability-for-Service (SFS) can be used to obtain OSHA compliance for fixed equipment lacking documentation.

What You Will Learn:

  • What is Suitability-for-Service (SFS)?
  • What equipment requires an SFS assessment?
  • Background – OSHA regulations and interpretations
  • How does SFS fit into the Lifecycle Management for fixed equipment
  • Step-by-step SFS process
  • SFS vs. Fitness-for-Service (FFS)
  • Case study examples

Who Should Attend:

  • Owner-operators with equipment that is lacking design documentation
  • Maintenance engineers
  • Inspectors

What Problem Does This Solve:

Pressure vessels and tanks with improper documentation that are in service may pose a safety risk and be out of compliance with OSHA requirements, which could result in audit findings or fines for the equipment owner.  An SFS evaluation is the fastest and most cost-effective process for achieving OSHA compliance and justifying safe operation for equipment lacking documentation.
