Webinar: An Overview of Sulfidation and High-Temperature H2/H2S Damage

An Overview of Sulfidation and High-Temperature H2/H2S Damage
Thursday, February 22, 2024 11:00AM - 12:00PM EST
Presenters: Phil Prueter, P.E. and Lucas A. Baldesberger

This webinar will provide an overview of sulfidation damage in refinery pressure equipment. Specifically, fundamental characteristics and damage morphology associated with sulfidation and high-temperature H2/H2S damage will be provided. Critical variables that influence damage susceptibility will be outlined and specific refinery process units and equipment/locations prone to damage will be identified. In-service failure case studies and lessons learned will also be provided. Additionally, inspection methods for sulfidation-related damage will be discussed and commentary on leveraging fitness-for-service (FFS) techniques to qualify unanticipated wall loss will be offered. Lastly, practical design and in-service damage mitigation strategies will be described, and the key elements of effective mechanical integrity programs aimed at managing the risk associated with sulfidation and high-temperature H2/H2S damage will be rendered.

Who should attend:

  • Refinery Engineering, Inspection, Reliability, and Maintenance Personnel
  • Fixed Equipment and Process Engineering Specialists
  • Engineering, Reliability, and Operations Managers
  • Mechanical, Materials, and Corrosion Engineering Specialists
